I am turning 40 on the 24th of June, only next week. Im so excited. Im heading off to New Zealand for a year to study Film making on the 29th. I have worked hard for a year to save and have written many scripts for movie ideas. My dreams are coming true! To have a career from my creative abilities. And I have a successful online business that will ‘come with me’. Onwards and upwards!

The ugly – one year ago I left my abusive partner, no children thank goodness! It took me 8 months to sort out who the hell I was! After being bed wench, cuppa maker, housemaid & cook for 13 years I lost myself.

I feel ‘free’ I am reclaiming myself! Yes I can save money! Yes I can have my own business! Yes I can pay all my bills, Yes I can travel, Yes I can hope, Yes I bloody well can….

Forty is the new 30 – my 30′s I gave myself away – my 40′s Im reclaiming the right to just be me!

Thank you for sharing that…..I am also turning 40 on June 24th and related to you saying you gave yourself away in your 30s….I have given myself away since I was 17….I so want to get to the place where I figure out how to be independent and follow my dreams. Thank you

I absolutely love this post because I too am turning 40 tomorrow (24 June) and because of Jesus, I am looking forward to my future. I too missed out on my 30's because of wrong decisions. Here's to a new beginning, a brand new chapter.

Wow! three of us with similarities. I don't know what your beliefs are but I am a Christian. On March 24, I received a message that gave me new hope for my future. I too gave myself away at an early age and lived to regret it. After March 2010, I received so many positive messages that I now look forward to the rest of my life. I am still married, no children and am trusting GOD for HIS very best for my life.

I'm turning forty on June 24th, and I HATE IT. This has to be the WORST year I've ever had. Every year does get a little worse but now its 6 months into this one and life is a disaster. I just lost my job a few weeks ago, the insurance is running out, the car is breaking down all the time, and the summer heat is getting so bad it's 90ºF in the house at times… But the worst is that the 30s are over. No more fun activities, we look like hell, and yet we still get carded. All my favorite things are gone, discontinued, forbidden, or dissed by younger people. All I have to look forward to is more of the same misery, and I'm getting pretty sure I don't want to live to see 41. I'm sure others feel the same way, at least partially. The only thing I haven't gotten into is health problems, but I'm sure that's coming (aches and pains are already mounting).

  • Greatful to be alive

Today (24 June) I am 40. My life was not a bed of roses, very far from it. I am grateful to be alive. All that I am and everything that I have, I owe it all to JESUS CHRIST! I don't want to get all religious on you, but everyday is a new beginning. If you don't know Jesus then perhaps you should think about giving your life to HIM because only HE can make a difference and lift you up and out of where you are at.
I wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY and pray that your life will get better and change for the best.

I love this post. Happy Birthday – I too turned 40 today. I'm in the middle of a divorce from an emotional abuser after 9 years. I too am reclaiming the right to just be me!

Happy Birthday!!! Here's wishing you a great new beginning. May this be the beginning of better and greater things to come. All the best for the future and yes, take back what belongs to YOU!

ok realistt at 40 its time to regain your life. Start over since your on the bottom pick your self up and get moving. Make a chart on the things you would like to be in control of and (be realistic) like getting a job and paying your bills etc. find new favorite things for your new life. find new activities and try a new hair stlye for a new and refreshing you.Do the things that make you happy and hang with people and friends that are positive and motativating. Get rid of anything negative including hanging out with people thats unhappy. And know that you are the only one in control of your future. You determine how your life is going to turn out and set a goal to achieve it. I wish you strength and happiness and remeber that everyday is another chance to start all over again. Life is great!
