Help! In May I’ll be 40 and I am freaking out! Married 20 years in June, 4 children ages from 18 to 6 only one marriage and kids all mine. First child just eloped, lived in the same area of California all my life.

I feel like all I will have is a big pile regrets. I dont even own a house yet. Only this big feeling of doom is creeping up on me! How can I fend off this emotional mid life crisis, and what do I do for my Birthday?

Not fun and Sunny in California.

turning 40 in 7 days… i totally feel you! that’s the reason i’m here. the creeping doom thing really sucks! it’s like a slide i want to get off of, but all i do is inch forward. ugh…nnas for my bday…i’m going out to an 80′s club the night before (in semi-sunny san francisco). surely “my people” will be there, so i think that’s a supportive place to be. hope you find your own happy place!

Andropause is my thesis subject for my masters. But this knowledge doesnu2019t give me an edge to be an effective wife or a partner to my husband who will be turning 40 in 29 days.nnAs men reaches their Andropause stage ( middle age, midlife crisis ), generally, their bodies begin producing smaller amounts of testosterone and human growth hormone. This result of lowered level of hormones have dramatic impact on a manu2019s holistic aspect of well being. Low levels of hormones are often associated with weight gain, decreased libido, decreased mental alertness, and depression. So many men usually respond to these changes with intense fear, restlessness, irritability and confusion. This fear can cause some men to behave in erratic ways that they normally would never thought and consider. The implications of this change are intense and complex, and many men do not know how to handle these feelings because they do not understand that there is a medical or hormonal reason. People think that Andropause is caused by a manu2019s realization that he is running out of time to fulfill his dreams, but itu2019s not. nnJust like women that are experiencing menopause, diet and exercise, medical treatment and psychological help can be effective to some. But understanding what you are going through is the first step. Next is making your choice to what extent you want to live your life.
